In a previous article [O. Chan, T.-K. Lam, and R. Merris, The Wiener number as an immanant of the Laplacian of molecular graphs, J. Chem. Inf. & Comp. Sci. 37 (1997), 762-765], the authors established a relation between the chemical Wiener Index W(G) and a certain immanant of the Laplacian matrix of the underlying chemical graph G. Based on that result, it is shown in this article that there are algebraic connections between W(G) and other chemical descriptors such as the Hosoya Index that, until now, were believed to be independent of W(G).
