Week 5:
- Tuesday iPad Problem: Sorry about yesterday, it turns out there was a software update for the iPad that needed to be installed. I have re-written the notes from yesterday, please see the new link on the Jamboards page. The Bayes Problem is there and the notes from the start of the Random Vairables discusion. I have also added one handout displaying the PDF and CDF of the discrete random variable \(X = {\tt the\ sum\ of\ the\ dots\ on\ the\ two\ dice}\), see the Handouts page, Week05.
- Book Errata: I have started an Errata document to send to the authors of the book at the end of the semester. If you catch any mistakes please send me an email and I will add it to the list. Errata
- Reminder: On Mondays class is online on Zoom. See Canvas > Zoom for the link to the Zoom meeting.
- Topics: Random Variables, Discrete Random Variables, Probability Mass Function, Cumulative Distribution Function.
- Assignments: All homework problems have been notated with (“math” or “comp” or “math and comp”) to help focus on what problems should be done by hand in preparation for the quiz and midterm. - Reminder: You should finish the assignment by the due date on the class website. You can ask questions that day and then fix anything that needs to be updated and submit by the end of the week. Does this make sense? I expect you to finish the homework by the due date, it would be best to turn it in soon after but no later then the date on Canvas. I want everyone to reflect on their work and finalize it after asking questions and letting me suggest some ideas if needed. And I do not want to be asked about extending the due date, as everyone has gotten 4 extra days to submit.

So we will begin each class on my university website. I will use Canvas to collect homework, post grades, and to post solutions to homework, quizzes, and exams. I will also use Canvas to post announcements.
