Statistics 6601: Homework

 


Homework 4:

  • There will be a problem from the second to last Application related to regression.
  • Do the problem in the section on randomization testing using Minitab and StatXact.
  • There will be a problem from the last Application in the book related to categorical data analysis.
  • Project:  Find a dataset of interest to you and perform the appropriate classical and resampling methods of analysis.

As soon a I find my book or buy a new one I will give the details of the homwork.


Homework 3:

  • Read Concepts 7, 8, 9, and 10
  • Application 7 do exercise 1
  • Application 8 do exercise 1, 2
  • Application 9 do exercise 1 (Perform the analysis ignoring the small populations sizes.  If you have time perform the analysis taking into consideration the small population sizes.)
  • Find an article form a major Statistics Journal on the topic related to Bootstrapping.  You might just go and look through the index of the most recent Journals in our Library.  Here is a link to a limited list. Another thing you might do is search The American Statistician Comprehensive Index (1947-1996) for keywords such as Bootstrap, Monte Carlo Simulation, Efron, etc..
    • Write a short paper (2-3 pages).
      • Explaining what the authors of the paper are trying to estimate.
      • Explain how the paper is related to the methods described in Stat. 6601.
