Statistics 6011: Homework

Homework 9:

  • Complete Homework 8.
  • Read Chapter 11
  • Read Chapter 13, do problems
  • The paper that you write should be between 5 and 10 pages long and should include a title, introduction, the body of the paper, conclusions, a reference section, and an appendix which include any computer output you wish to include.

Homework 8:

  • Read Chapter 9, do problems 9.5, 9.9, 9.15, 9.17, 9.61
  • Read Chapter 10, do problems 10.4, 10.8, 10.13, 10.19, 10.65

Homework 7:

  • Read Chapter 8, do problems 8.7, 8.11, 8.15, 8.20,8.27, 8.31, 8.37, 8.41
  • Read Chapter 9 and 10
  • Chose a topic from Chapters 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 to work on for the Class Project.  You will be asked to write a short paper and prepare a 15 minute PowerPoint presentation for the class on the topic chosen.  Read the Chapter and describe the following: 1) the method, 2) the type of data the method applies to, 3) give the main formulas, and 4) run an example on a database from the book using a computer, such as the manufacturing database, using Minitab and Excel.
  • Since class meets only once a week I suggest using the Blackboard discussion groups to collaborate.

  • Complete the problems from Chapter 7
  • Read Chapters 8

Homework 5:

  • Read Chapter 7, do problems 7.2, 7.13, 7.21
  • Study for the midterm.

Homework 4:

  • Read Chapter 5, do problems 5.3, 5.7, 5.11, 5.15, 5.20
  • Read Chapter 6, do problems 6.7, 6.10, 6.27, 6.30
  • Read Chapter 7

Homework 3:

  • Read Chapter 4, do problems 4.2, 4.6, 4.7, 4.9, 4.12, 4.16, 4.22, 4.23, 4.27, 4.33, 4.45
  • Read Chapters 5 and 6.

Homework 2:

  • Read Chapter 3, do problems 3.8, 3.18, 3.20, 3.25, 3.33, 3.40em, 3.43em, 3.50, 3.61
  • Be sure to read Page 86.
  • Read Chapter 4, do problems 4.10

Homework 1:

  • Read Chapter 1, do problems 1.4, 1.5
  • Read Chapter 2, do problems 2.2em, 2.9em, 2.15em, 2.37, 2.38, and read pages 43-44 about Excel and Minitab.
  • Read Chapter 3
  • Note: em is a suggestion that you should use Excel or Minitab
  • Make sure you have a working copy of MS Excel that you can access for the class.
  • Download and install Minitab for use in the class.
