Week 10:

  • Class reviews Tuesday.
  • We will continue our discussion of Hypothesis Testing on Tuesday.
  • On Thursday we discuss Correlation and Regression again and have a final review.

  • MiniProject 4 is due on Tuesday March 27.

  • We will begin Statistical Inference this week.

  • During the second hour on Thursday we will be going to the computer lab to do MiniProject 2b.  Be sure to print it out and bring it with you so you can follow along.

Week 5:

  • Correction to MiniProject 2a, 0.733 is a mistake, it should be 0.40 = 12/30.  Due Thursday.
  • Tuesday the Regression Assignment is due.  Using the data from Problem 14, page 438: a) plot the data in a scatterplot, b) compute the descriptive statistics for the two variables, c) compute the regression line, d) predict the Test Score for someone who watches 4 hours of TV.

Week 4:

  • This week MiniProject 1 is due on Tuesday  12/23.
  • The Midterm will be returned on Tuesday.
  • You should begin to work on MiniProject 2a, due 2/1.
  • We will be going to the computer lab during the last part of class on Thursday.  Please print out a copy of Handout 2 for the lab.

Week 3:

  • This week MiniProject 1 is due on Tuesday and we will have the first Midterm on Thursday.
  • The due date for MiniProject 1 has been change to Tuesday 12/23.

Week 10:

The final is on Thursday 12/7/2000 6:00-7:50.


Week 9:

This week we will be covering Confidence Intervals, so if you are interested in doing the extra-credit be sure to attend class on Tuesday.  The extra-credit will be due next Tuesday 11/28/2000.


Week 8:

Miniproject 2b is due Tuesday November 14.  The second Midterm exam will be give Thursday.  The midterm will be given after a 1 hour lecture and a 5 minute break and will last about 1 hr and 20 mins.  The midterm will cover Probability, Discrete Random Variables including the definition of the Binomial random variable and Continuous Random Variables including the Normal random variable.  The test will be open book and open notes.


Week 7:

Miniproject 2b is due next Tuesday November 14.


Week 6:

Correction to the syllabus, my office hours are held on Tuesday and Thursday between 5 and 5:35pm.  


Week 5:

I plan to return the graded Midterm on Wednesday.  

On Tuesday there is a homework assignment that is due from Homework #3 Ch.3 pp. 129-131 3, 9, 10, 14,15, 17 and pp. 145-147 9, 10, 15, 16

On Thursday there is a homework assignment that is due from Homework #3 Ch.3 pp 119-123 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 16, 18

Also, Miniproject 2a is also due on Thursday.


Week 4:

Tuesday Quiz 3 is due.

This week on Tuesday the probability home work is due.  Homework #3: Ch. 3 pp.111-114 1, 2, 7, 8, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 20, 23, 24, 25, 26, 30 

Thursday is our first midterm.  I will give a brief review on Tuesday and give details about the structure of the test.


Week 3:

Just to remind you, we will be going to the computer lab on Tuesday.  Be sure to print out handouts 1 and 2 is you want hardcopies to use when we are in the computer lab.  This Thursday Mini-Project 1 is due.  And finally, the first midterm is in two weeks on Oct 19.

If you have already missed two quizzes, recall that you have the opportunity to for extra credit by finding a poll that has a margin of error.  If you find a poll please bring it to me for approval and then hold on to it until we get to confidence intervals.  When we get to this part of the class I will ask you to write about the the poll.  Click on Statistics Links to find a list of online polling results.
